??? Navigator Gas Invests in #Ammonia-Fueled #Shipping to Accelerate Net-Zero Operations ?? ?? ? In this episode of the Capital Link Trending News Webinar Series, Mads Peter Zacho, CEO of Navigator Gas (NYSE: NVGS), discussed how the company has taken a bold step toward #decarbonization by announcing the construction of its first #gascarriers powered by ammonia. Mr. Zacho revealed details of a joint venture with Amon Maritime to build two dual fueled 51,500-cubic-meter vessels capable of running on #cleanammonia, while also retaining traditional fuel options. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in June and October 2028 and will be constructed by Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd.? ? Each ship will cost approximately $84 million.?The vessels will be the largest in Navigator’s fleet to date, offering greater cargo economies of scale on a per-ton basis and improved #fuelefficiency. ? Navigator Gas has transported ammonia as cargo for 25 years, and this is an important first step for NVGS preparing to embrace it as a fuel source. These new vessels will be able to switch between ammonia and conventional fuels as needed. This move supports the company’s journey toward achieving #netzero operations by 2050 and positions it favorably to receive government funding support. The ships are expected to primarily burn clean ammonia for the first five years of operation, further supporting early adoption of #zerocarbonfuels. ?
